Workplace Well-being Service

Stress within the workplace is a major cause of staff absence.

70 million working days were lost last year to mental health issues alone

Sucessful companies are recognising the benefits of occupational health strategies which increase productivity, decrease absence and boost team morale.

The government has set up a task force led by workplace health 'tsar' Dame Carol Black to examine the whole issue of workplace health including why some businesses do not provide more support and what needs to be done to increase understanding and ensure wider provision.

Launching the task group, DWP minister Lord McKenzie said : "Businesses have much to gain in terms of reduced sickness absence and improved staff engagement and retention - but very few employers offer occupational health or vocational rehabilitiation. This taskforce will identify why this is the case, what barriers are preventing wider provision and what needs to be done to change this"

"It was thoroughly enjoyable & extremely relaxing. It definitely had a calming effect, I found it very useful on that day as I was having a particularly stressful day with some personal problems......I felt the benefit and would definitely welcome the opportunity to do it again"            JG, Hampshire county council
