Aromatherapy is the ancient practice of using volatile oils extracted from flowers, roots, leaves, stems and fruits. The use of scented herbs and flowers extends back to ancient Egyptian rituals and healing. Hippocrates, the “father of modern medicine” believed that the use of herbs was essential for good health, including essential oils and fragrant herbs in his prescriptions.

Essential oils are selected for their medicinal properties and applied to the body diluted in base oil, most commonly as a back massage (the largest area of skin on your body). You could also have a full body massage, head/ face massage or utilise products such as body or bath oils, room scents or even as incense.

A gentle, effective therapy for physical ailments and the effects of psychological problems such as stress.

Massage is the use of specific techniques designed to reduce muscle stiffness and pain whilst promoting suppleness. By releasing the tension, pain levels decrease and you gain free movement. Massage boosts circulation and allows the release of trapped toxins / acids from massagemuscles from over/ improper use. Whilst your body relaxes, so does your mind settling from the state of tense nervousness created partly by the prolonged muscle tightness and trapped toxins.

Massage works well to counteract both acute and chronic muscular and mental problems. The effect is cumulative so regular sessions are recommended.

Reflexology is a well established, respected and effective therapy for relaxing the mind and the body, counteracting stress and rebalancing the whole body. The primary goal is to restore natural equilibrium. Based on the same “energy” theory of shiatsu and acupuncture, the belief is that energy flows through the body and that areas of imbalance canReflexology be mapped n the feet and correspond to organs of the body.

Reflexology has been successful in treating high blood pressure, sleep disorders, digestive disorders, back pain, migraines, menstrual problems and menopause symptoms as well as relieving stress and stress-related conditions.

Reiki is a Japanese technique for reducing stress, combating fatigue and inducing relaxation. It clears, straightens and heals the energy paths flowing energy through effected parts of your natural energy field – balancing and restoring calm. This rebalancing induces deep relaxation, calmsreiki the emotions, aids restful sleep and increased feelings of self confidence and self worth.

The treatment does not require you to remove any clothing and during your session I do not actually touch you – my hands are floating a small distance away but you will feel me there. There is no religious basis to Reiki so anyone can receive treatment; the only prerequisite is the desire to feel better.

Shiatsu is a therapy of physical and energy rebalance. Pressure is applied to areas of tension and energy blockage correcting internal problems and promoting and maintaining general good health. It revitalises your endocrine and immune systems, stabilizing your overall energy levels. Traditionally, shiatsu is performed on a “futon-like” mattress on the floor. However, if you have mobility problems, it can be done on a Shiatsucouch. As treatments include some gentle stretches and positioning, it is most appropriate to wear loose clothing (a tracksuit is ideal).

On a physical level, shiatsu benefits include pain relief (specifically in the lower back, shoulders and neck), increased suppleness and mobility of muscles and joints, improved effective breathing and resolving digestive complaints. Mentally, reducing stress levels and anxiety, calming the emotions, decluttering the mind, boosting positivity and increasing clarity are its major benefits.

Acupressure is an ancient healing art using fingers and thumbs to gradually stimulate specific points on the energy pathways which flow through your body. Blocked energy pathways can cause symptoms such as pain, discomfort and the effects of organs not being able to work efficiently.

Emotionally you can feel out of control, mood swings, depression, confusion or vulnerable. When these points are stimulated, they release the tension, increase circulation, relieve pain, detox the body and promote the body’s natural healing ability.

This can be performed fully clothed but, for added effect, combine it with a massage.
